HNExpress Staff Reporter : Anant National University hosted DesignEdX, a half-day conclave dedicated to reimagining education through design thinking, in Kolkata on 2 May 2025. Organised by Anant’s Centre of Design Education (CODE), under the leadership of Dr Anunaya Chaubey, the conclave brought together 45 educators, thought leaders and changemakers from 35 prominent schools in and around Kolkata.

Prominent participants included Lakshmipat Singhania Academy International, Shri Shikshayatan School, Modern High School International, The Heritage School, R P Goenka International School and Sushila Birla Girls School, among others.

Titled ‘Design Thinking in Education: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities’, the conclave aimed to inspire and equip educators with Design Thinking principles to transform classroom challenges into innovative solutions. It also served as a platform to build long-term collaborations with diverse stakeholders in education.

The conclave featured a keynote address by Dr Chaubey, titled ‘Design Thinking in Education’, which set the stage for exploring innovative and sustainable solutions to embed design thinking into educational practices. The keynote was followed by a panel discussion on integrating Indigenous Knowledge Systems in modern education and an interactive workshop with school principals and educators, fostering collaboration and dialogue on systemic change through design thinking.

CODE’s DesignEdX is more than a conference—it is a movement to create future-ready schools by equipping educators with tools for creative problem-solving and systemic innovation. Through academic and creative collaborations, DesignEdX seeks to empower stakeholders across India and beyond to lead the way toward a design-enabled future.

As part of CODE’s outreach efforts, these conclaves emphasise the importance of design as a discipline within schools, aiming to unlock the creative potential of India’s young demographic to address global challenges. These sessions align with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for integrating design pedagogy into school curricula to foster critical thinking and innovation.

DesignEdX reinforces Anant’s commitment to transforming education and shaping a sustainable future through interdisciplinary learning and meaningful collaborations.
